Influence of Neutron Spectrum to Prompt Neutron Decay Measurement

摘要: 为了考察泄漏中子能谱及中子飞行时间对瞬发中子衰减曲线测量结果的影响,运用MCNP-4C程序计算了一个聚乙烯反射金属钚系统的瞬发中子在系统内、外不同距离的衰减曲线。计算结果表明,由于泄漏中子的能量不同,其飞行时间不同,因此,测量的衰减曲线相对堆内的瞬发中子衰减曲线的衰减速度变慢,且随着飞行距离的增加,变慢的程度增大。如果不同能量的泄漏中子的飞行时间差与核系统瞬发中子衰减时间接近,则泄漏中子衰减曲线的衰减指数不能用来表征核系统的瞬发中子衰减常数。Abstract: To evaluate the influence of leaking neutron spectrum and neutron flying time to the measurement of prompt neutron decay, prompt neutron decay curves at different locations inside and outside a polythene reflected plutonium metal sphere were calculated with MCNP-4C. Calculation results shows that the flying time difference for leaking neutrons with different energies distorts the curves by slowing down the decay and with the increase of the flying distance the distortion becomes more severe. When the flying time difference of the detected leaking neutrons is comparable to the time decay constant of the nuclear system, the time decay rate of leaking neutrons can not characterize the prompt neutron decay of the nuclear system.
