Analysis of Cooling Measures for ECCS at CARR Shutdown

  • How to cool down the reactor core after shutdown is one of the most important safety problems for CARR.ECCS of CARR is a high capability and credibility system with two purposes:One is to cool the pool water in the normal condition and the other is to cool the core in emergency.These designs,including no manpower interruption and automatic matching,will widen the method and accumulate the experiences for domestic research reactors and also testify that CARR is safe,economical and advanced. This paper first introduced the function,main parameters and flow chart of the CARR ECCS,considering the nuclear safety code and guide.Based on the real condition of CARR,this paper also analyzed the typical accidents and the shutdown cooling of the ECCS,and demonstrated how the ECCS carded out the passive cooling at normal and accidental shutdown.
